The Leigongwu Formation is subdivided into three members. Lower member is composed of bluish gray to greenish gray tilly pebbly sandstone, pebbly mudstone intercalated with minor siltstone and silty mudstone, with good stratification and developed flat-beddings and occasionally oblique beddings. Middle member is dominated by black shale, manganiferous siliceous shale, manganiferous shale and dolomite, chert and manganiferous sandstone and siltstone. Among them, the manganiferous carbonate rock commonly shows thin-bedded, lenticular and edgewise structures. Upper member consists of tilly pebbly sandstone, intercalated with minor mudstone and silty mudstone, which is dominated by black gray and dark green, with no beddings and complex pebble composition. It is 2-10 m thick.
